What is trauma? Trauma is an event or situation caused by a deep distressing or disturbing experience. Trauma causes physical, emotional, spiritual or/and psychological harm.
The person experiencing the distressing event may feel threatened, anxious, or frightened as a result. The person will need support and time to recover from the traumatic event and regain emotional and mental stability.
Trauma can be apparent or not, but independent of the person have conscientious of its presence, it is there, very deep in their soul and body. The size of the event that cause trauma to a person doesn’t really matter, no feeling or emotional should never be ignorant and it must be always honored if we want to live in harmony and a healthy life.
Our body always know what happened or is happening in our heart, it always knows of our feelings, there is no escape from the body. We have just one body for life and it is our best friend. People complain a lot about their bodies, how imperfect they are, how fat, slow, how chronic is the pain and so on. But in true the body is an amazing thing and it holds so much of everything, it is always talking to us, it is always calling our attention, our heart is beating no stop all our lives, the body is always protecting us. In traumatic events, the body will “heal” and hold the trauma for us until we be able to face and deal with it. We actually can become very sick from trauma, old or recent, it can be in any part of our body or soul.
And even when we are able to work on our trauma and break free from it, something I know and believe anybody can do. The body will never forget the feeling that a trauma caused. It can be challenging because eventually we can get face to face with some situations that may bring back the feeling.
It is important to feel safe in order to deal with traumatic memories. And it is important to open ourselves to deal with it. It is okay to be vulnerable and to acknowledge our feelings.
The most compassionate we are with ourselves better results we will get.
We have to believe in ourselves and give us a chance to heal and break free from whatever traumatic feelings are holding us back or causing us pain.
I have learned in my personal life and also from my work that is every single situation there is a lesson, sometimes the lessons can be extremely difficult, it can also be extremely helpful to empower us, not just emotionally but also physically. The deeper we feel more connected we learn to be.
The quote “what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger” is true! It maybe is not a fairy Disney world story but we can always find magic with ourselves.
